Just about every race number that I’ve held on to over the years. Dayum, I’ve been in a lot of races!
Although my prep for the upcoming half has not been great, I’m feeling good about it. My mileage has slowed down a bit but at the same time my pace has increased and I’m super excited to try and beat my past Helvatia Half Marathon time. I have dedicated more time for rest and I have done a better job at taking care of my diet which is always a struggle. Like many runners I have the hard task of getting the proper diet and the proper calorie intake. My eating has not increased or decreased but I have made it a point to not eat everything I can get my hands on. I have the good fortune of always being a “slim guy” and being able to eat all I want, but what I have learned in the last few weeks is that my pace has increased with my limiting of sugars and red meat. My goal for the week is to get 30-35 miles and plenty of rest leading up too the run on the 9th of June, along with limiting my crappy food intake. Happy trails everyone!!
Another great running day in Portland, 65 degrees with slight cloud cover. The problem I run (pun intended) into now is gaining distance on my long days. I have ran 10’s the last two weekends and I feel great but I need to bump it up to 12’s. But with this comes the need to carry water especially with the warmer weather coming and I hate carrying stuff with me. I really don’t like any extra stuff with me, it makes feel distracted and a bit unbalanced. Nothing makes me happier then running in the sunshine and getting some Vitamin D especially living in a place that has a limited amount during the year, but with the sun comes sweat and with that comes dehydration. If any one has any suggestions about running with water, I’m all ears.
Great day in Portland for a longer run, low-mid 70’s with slight cloud cover and not much wind. Went from work to the Nike and around on there course twice and then back. It was a total of 9 miles and I found my rhythm (NO MUSIC), something new that I’m trying. For some reason I was much more at peace with this run then I have been the last few days, I think it might be the idea of listening to my breathing and footsteps or maybe just a better diet for the day!! but regardless it was a great run.
Hit the track today and I remembered why I love the trail and road runs. I have respect for anyone that can put in a decent amount of miles on that thing. I did a 5k and was not tired or in pain and yet I could not keep going. Anybody else experience this problem?
I haven’t been running in a while. And by running I mean jogging whilst wheezing desperately for air.
You see, I’m not really what you’d...
6.9.2012 finished my first half marathon (:!! Woohoo!!
I love you Steve
Instead of walking, skipping still let’s you get back your breath while also making you stay at quite a fast pace!
for all the urban runners.
